Ann Barczay Sloan

Editor

Ann Barczay Sloan is a writer, editor, writing coach (a.k.a. "book midwife") and information entrepreneur. In past years, she has also enjoyed working as adult education / college instructor, speaker and certified speaking coach (Speaking Circles International), and has led classes and workshops on self-awareness, personal growth, and expanded states of consciousness. Given her natural-born passion for networking, Ann feels honored to be invited into the ever-expanding realms of The National Networker!

In the business arena, Sloan has twenty-plus years of professional experience as consulting writer and editor in business and information technology, with emphasis on creating software user documentation. In recent years she has been eagerly studying innovations in the field of internet & multi-media publishing and marketing, and now expanding into the newest arena of telewebcasting.

In parallel to serving as editor / writing coach / info product creator for authors seeking professional assistance, Ann also continues to create her own short fiction and non-fiction works. Her freewheeling intellect and sense of humor are manifest in her talents as storyteller, satirist, and performance artist. Most recently, she has designed a unique group experience for writers (for novice and expert alike): the MultiDimensional Writing Workshop.

In past years, Ann self-published a book entitled How to Be Your Own Savior, and created an autobiographical one-woman performance work, As the Mind Blows. Her latest book, How to Use the Pieces of a Broken Heart: Recipes for Rebirth, is currently being prepared for publication. This illustrated inspirational work has garnered enthusiastic endorsements from a broad spectrum of readers even prior to public release. Also - in the spirit of "something completely different" - Ann has recently started a blog written by an outrageous imaginary character: see http://perpetualecstasy.blogspot.com/ . Her soon-to-be expanded web site is at http://www.GeniusUnbound.com.

Ann’s family background is unusual in that she was born in Hungary and spent a significant part of her childhood in Germany as a World War II refugee. As a result of her early life experiences in Europe she has an international outlook and a passion for multi-cultural understanding and world peace.

Sloan has earned a Bachelor’s Degree (Ph.B.) with majors in Philosophy and Communications from the University of Detroit, an M.A. in Literature (California State University at Los Angeles), plus a California Community College Teaching Credential. Ann is multi-lingual, educated in French, German, and Spanish as well as her native Hungarian. After some decades spent in Southern California, she now lives on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Ann has a special passion for travel and the arts, and loves spending family time with her four adult children: two sons and two daughters, plus eight young grandchildren (two baby girls born Spring 2008!)
