October 15, 2007 marked the official kickoff of the 14th annual Trenton Small Business Week. Five days of awards, seminars, speakers, and of course, networking.

"More than 30,000 business owners and entrepreneurs have benefited throughout the years from the activities of this annual networking and information sharing event," Mayor Palmer said. Last year’s event drew more than 4,000 people from Trenton and surrounding areas.

The week long event started out on Monday, October 15 at 8 am with a networking breakfast featuring keynote speaker Susanne Svizeny, Regional Banking President, Wachovia Bank. Susanne shared her passion for Trenton and led a high-energy discussion on the ways each and every member of our business community can benefit from the numerous attributes of the capital region.

Special events scheduled for the week included the monthly luncheon of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) on Tuesday, October 16 and an Expo on Wednesday, October 17. The week culminated with the Renaissance Ball of Trenton on Friday, October 19th hosted at the Marriott. Proceeds of this event benefit the Old Barracks and the Arts and Business Council of the MRCC.

Along with great food, exposure to local businesses and the chance to meet many of the movers and shakers of Central New Jersey, special seminars and workshops were scheduled throughout the week. Some of the topics included:

  • You Can do Business with the State
  • Advertising: What Works for You
  • Networking: How to Work a Room
  • Financial Goal Setting: Break Even Today, Profitable Tomorrow
  • Seven Deadly Sins Small Business Owners Commit.
