Fun With Networking

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Oliver Picher, PR and marketing guru and creator of the blog, FunWithNetworking. It was well worth a trip to Philly to have the chance to sit down face to face with a master networker.

I got involved in networking as many of us do, to build my business. I was surprised to discover that this wasn’t the case for Oliver.

Just over a year ago, as part of a corporate downsizing, Oliver’s full time job was dissolved. He’s currently consulting, doing pro bono work, and learning a lot about social media marketing while looking for a new full time job. What better way to get your name out there than to network? Personally, I think this is a very smart and greatly underutilized self-marketing tactic.

Although based on actual time “in the field,” I would consider Oliver a business networking newbie, he has the skills of a veteran. Lucky for us, he decided to take his experiences and lessons public. In July of this year, FunWithNetworking was born.

Oliver blogs about his recent networking experiences, who he met, as well as different organizations and associations. He includes links to other sites, individual bios, RSS feeds, and more. FunWithNetworking.com also has a Philadelphia Networking Groups directory, and the most recent addition, a networking event calendar!

Oliver also has tons of entries that cover great general networking advice, and still other entries where he shares some of his valuable pr and marketing expertise. All of this wonderful information is right there for the taking on www.FunWithNetworking.com. For anyone interested in networking in the Philly area, this site is a must have bookmark. For the rest of you who won’t be networking in the Philly area, this site is still a must have bookmark.

And don’t forget, in true networking style – spread the word.
