This month I attended an event hosted by Young Real Estate Professionals of New York (YREPNY), which is a not-for-profit organization serving New York Metro Area real estate professionals. Real estate brokers, mortgage professionals and real estate practitioners such as attorneys and title company representatives comprise the membership. The primary target is real estate professionals under the age of thirty-five (35) and/or those with less than five (5) years of industry experience, but everyone is welcome and many of our members are in their late 30s/early 40s. The main point is that membership to YREPNY is free and non-exclusive.

If you're looking to meet local real estate professionals in New York this is the place. Their mission is to help you gain a foothold in the toughest real estate market of them all, New York City. Membership numbers more than two-thousand eight hundred (2,800) real estate professionals from the region, and spans across every sector of the industry. Also, there are affiliate chapters in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. This is exceptional growth for an organization which began in 2001.

Please visit www.yrepny.org/ to sign up for a free membership, and to find out more about the Young Real Estate Professionals of New York. YREP holds informal monthly speaker luncheons as well as social networking functions for its members.

The purpose of YREP is threefold:

  • to further the development of young professionals in all areas of commercial real estate
  • to promote avenues of communication among young professionals in the industry
  • to leverage the industry knowledge of prominent commercial real estate leaders
