Danielle Lum

Hawaiian Bureau Chief

Danielle Lum, APR, is a communicator by training. With nearly two decades of experience in public relations, there aren’t too many communications situations she hasn’t experienced, orchestrated, mastered, or smoothed out.

After having an employer for 20 years, she recently fulfilled a lifelong goal by becoming her own boss. As president of NK Design, Inc., Danielle dedicates most of her time to helping new companies and non-profit organizations to establish their communications programs. To do this, she assists with message strategy, company brochures and signage, special events, direct mail, Web sites, media relations, and more.

Being her own boss has given Danielle much more free time than she was used to and she likes to use this time to make memories with her nieces and nephew. She also took on the challenge of creating the next generation of public relations professionals by teaching classes at Chaminade University of Honolulu.

She’s active in her community, being elected to the Neighborhood Board and sitting on the boards of other charitable organizations.

And if you’re wondering why the letters APR appear behind her name, it indicates that she is Accredited in Public Relations, a designation provided by the national Public Relations Society of America, and one that only a handful of practitioners have achieved.
